Answer: Mistake in delegation as a leader could result in to several problems. A leader needs to identify the purpose and then delegates the task. The wrong delegation could result in to:

  • Poor quality of outcome.
  • Lack of trust among team members.
  • Becomes barrier in development.

One of the major delegating mistakes the leader can do is choosing the wrong person for the task. It means that leader doesn't identify the proper person to fulfill the delegation. It could result in poor outcomes. It may create poor result, lack of respect among peers and team members etc. Delegating to CNA for administration of the medication to the patient intravenously. They should not be given such delegation as it is out of the standard.

So, it is important to understand the specifications of the task and then the correct or the deserving person needs to get delegated.

As a leader, it is also important to monitor the function and the result. The two barriers for the effective delegation includes:

  • Lack of communication.
  • Lack of Confidence among the delegated person.
