Acute sinusitis, otherwise called rhinosinusitis represents the most common infections in the nasal cavity (common cold) of childrens. Acute sinusitis is defined as the bacterial infection or inflammation of the mucosa of the nasal cavity and at least one of the paranasal sinuses. The symptoms are purulent nasal discharge, daytime cough and other respiratory symptoms longer than 10 days. The disease is caused by bacteria and requires a combination of home care and antibiotic treatment as medical care. Antibiotic treatment is the appropriate treatment for acute bacterial sinusitis. 10-14 days is the appropriate duration of the antibiotic treatment in uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Reducing the duration of antibiotic therapy establish a lack of effectiveness associated with antibiotic treatment. Longer duration of treatment such as 21 days was established more pronounced benefit.
