The gene size and number depend on a lot of things related to the organism. The genome size of an organism does not depend on number of genes. In prokaryotes there is a direct relation between genome size and number of genes. In eukaryotes, there is no relationship between genome size and number. As the organism becomes more complex, the number of genes also increases and the less complex organism has less number of genes. With evolution, there is increase in number of genes and size. It can be concluded that in higher animals, as the complexity of the organism increase, it also increases the genome or gene number
