What are the general structural differences between eukaryotic mRNA as it appears in the cytosol and the DNA template from which it was synthesized? List at least 4 (four) distinct differences. Please use bullet points.
Structural differences between eukaryotic mRNA as it appears in
the cytosol and the DNA template from which it was
synthesized:
1. Eukaryotic mRNA has poly A tail at 3' end consisting of hundreds
of A nucleotide whereas it is not present in DNA template.
2.Eukaryotic mRNA has 5'capping present which consist of single G
nucleotides (protecting it from exonucleases that target 5' end )
whereas capping is absent in DNA template. The 5' end of mRNA is
recognised by nuclear pore complex allowing the mRNA to leave the
nucleus.
3. Introns are excised in mRNA and exons are spliced together
whereas in DNA exons and introns both are present.
4.Enhancers(distal control elements) and proximal control elements
are present upstream of promoter in DNA template but it is not the
case of mRNA .
