what are the difference between the internal (organelle) and genomic organizations of prokaryotes versus eukaryotes?
Prokaryotes:
1.Do not contain nuclear membrane, so a distinct nucleus cannot
be found.
2.The genome lies naked in the cytoplasm, which is also known as
nucleoid.
3.They do not contain membrane bound organelles such as endoplasmic
reticulum, golgi appartu etc.
4.The nucleoid is open and does not contain histons(chromatin
organization is absent)
5.They also contain extra chromosomal DNA known as plasmids.
Plasmids are autonomously replicationg closed
circular double stranded DNA molecules.
Eukaryotes:
1.Contain nuclear membrane as distinct nucleus is present.
2.The genome lies in a well packed structure called nucleus which
do not mix up with cytoplasm.
3.Contain membrane bound organelles like golgi, lysosomes,
endoplasmic reticulum etc
4.The nucleus is closed and is made up of histones bound to
DNA.
5. They do not contain extra chromosomal DNA like plasmids.
