Question

10. Once the FADH2 and NADH are created, where will they be oxidized (mitochondrion anatomy).

10. Once the FADH2 and NADH are created, where will they be oxidized (mitochondrion anatomy).

Homework Answers

Answer #1

NADH and FADH2 which are created in the mitochondrial matrix during citric acid cycle undergoes oxidation resulting in the production of ATP, i.e. Oxidative phosphorylation. NADH and FADH2 deposit their electron into electron transport chain at complexes 1st and 2nd, respectively. The process of oxidative phosphorylation occurs in the inner membrane of mitochondria. Here, in the inner mitochondrial membrane the 2 reactions(oxidation of NADH and FADH2 and the phosphorylation process to generate ATP) occurs which is coupled by a proton gradient across the inner membrane of mitochondria.

6. Which of the four stages of respiration does NOT take place in mitochondria A. pyruvate processing B. glycolysis C. Citric acid cycle D. electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation 7. The citric acid cycle is a set of sequential reactions where 2 carbon atoms from Acetyl CoA (that derives from a glucose molecule) are coupled to a 4 carbon molecule. The carbon atoms from Acetyl CoA are released as CO2. Redox reactions and phosphorylation reactions are used to harvest energy...

The space-hammer starts from rest 1.3 meters above the ground. a) (2 points) In which direction...
