Describe how and why some plants store carbon dioxide (CO2) more efficiently than others. Include a detailed discussion of the relationship between deforestation and climate change.

Answer #1

Some plants are C4 plants , CAM plants and some are C3 plants. Out of these C4 plants are most efficient in fixing and storing Carbon. The CAM plants store CO2 in the form of malate during the night and perform photosynthesis during the day.

The C3 plants are least effiecient due to a phenomenon called Photorespiration taking place in them.

As the climate will change and CO2 conc. Will increase the C3 plants productivity will be increased as the current levels of CO2 are limiting for these plants. Eg. Tomato.

Many plants like larger plants also store higher amount of CO2 in form of carbon. This is because of their larger structures like long trees of gymnosperms , angiosperm dicots etc. These are large woody trees and form large masses.

Their deforestation of will lead to increase in the CO2 levels of environment and lead to more climate change in the form of global warming etc।

For the element Carbon Dioxide (CO2) What are some molecules with similar properties? Why do they have similar properties? Give at least three examples of molecules with similar properties/reactivity. For the molecules with similar reactivity, provide at least two reactions. What role do the elements play in determining the properties of the similar molecule? Are there any isomers of your molecule? Do they have similar properties as your molecule? Why are triglycerides a more efficient way to store energy than glycogen? 1)Triglycerides have more carbon than glycogen 2)Triglycerides have more branches than glycogen. 3)Triglycerides are hydrophobic and do not interact with water 4)Triglcyerides are larger than glycogen

The concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly due to our use of fossil fuels. Because plants use CO2 to fuel photosynthesis, more CO2 may cause trees and other plants to grow faster. An elaborate apparatus allows researchers to pipe extra CO2 to a 30-meter circle of forest. They selected two nearby circles in each of three parts of a pine forest and randomly chose one of each pair to receive extra CO2. The response variable...

In the Updated Climate Change PPT/video numbers were cited for the worldwide emissions of carbon dioxide in Gigatons (=1015g) and the annual increase in the atmospheric concentration of the gas in ppm. Data was also given on the percentage of emitted gas that remains in the atmosphere and is not absorbed by plants or the ocean. If annual emissions are 36 Gigatons and the annual increase in concentration is 2.36 ppm, what percent of the carbon dioxide has remained in...
