1. Carbon belongs to group IV in the periodic table. Generally, all elements in the group IV on the periodic table will have similar properties. This is due to the elements in each group having the same number of valence electrons (group IV- 4 valence electrons), which is mostly responsible for the chemical properties of an element.
2. Three examples of molecules with similar properties: CO2, SiO2 and GeO2.
3. CO₂ + NaOH → Na₂CO₃ + H₂O
4. Elements with same valency play major role in determining the properties of the similar molecule.
