Which of the following enzymes is responsible for ensuring that genetic material at the end of the chromosome is not lost during DNA replication?

a. Helicase b. Telomerase c. DNA Ligase d. DNA Polymerase e. Primase

Answer #1

helicase is the enzyme that unwinds two strands of DNA during replication.

Telomerase is the enzyme used for the end replication of chromosome, telomerase synthesizes telomeres at the ends of the chromosome, telomeres protect the ends of the chromosome, during replication primers are added by the primase enzyme, once the DNA polymerase has replicated primers are removed and filled with DNA polymerase but at the ends of the chromosome once the primers are removed single-stranded DNAs are formed this cannot be filled by DNA polymerase, so telomerase synthesizes telomeres at the end and ensure that genetic material at the end of the chromosome is not lost during DNA replication.

DNA ligase two DNA molecules together.

DNA polymerise synthesise DNA.

primase synthesise RNA primer.

so the answer is b) telomerase.
