Medium spiny cells in the striatum and pyramidal cells in the cortex are particularly vulnerable to the toxic effects of the accumulation of huntingtin protein. Briefly describe why these cell types might be more susceptible to damage from this disease.
Huntingtin disease is an autosomal disorder caused by a mutation in the gene encoding the protein hutingtin on chromosome. Because Straitum and pyramidal cells of cortex are cell autonomous. It is inherited due to faulty genes. When faulty gene makes an abnormal version of the huntingtin protein.it causes progress to more pronounced invluntary movements, mental deterioration and death. It mainly effect formed as the part of brain that smooths and coordinates movements degenerate, monements become jerky uncoordinated.
