The nervous system, hormones, and blood chemicals can all either activate or inhibit endocrine cell activity. Give examples for how neuronal signalling can activate endocrine cells, how hormones can regulate secretions from other glands, and how blood components can regulate endocrine activity.
ANSWER :
A fall in arterial blood pressure is detected via the central baroreceptors (located in medulla), and peripheral baroreceptors present on the bodies of carotid and aortic arteries, which sends these information to the cardiovascular regulatory center in medulla.
Cardiovascular regulatory center further stimulates the sympathetic division of autonomic nervous system (ANS) to release the secretion of epinephrine hormone from the adrenal medulla. The epinephrine hormone increases the cardiac output, and also increase the peripheral vascular resistance via vasoconstriction of arterial blood vessels. Hence these neuroendocrine activities are adapted to return back the blood pressure to its normal range.
