Which of the following components of the G protein coupled receptor is not found on the membrane
A. cAMP
B. Receptor
C. G-Protein
D. Adenylyl Cyclase
E. Beta sub unit of the G protein
A. cAMP
GPCRs are receptors found in the cell membranes which has an extracellular and an intracellular domain. The extracellular lar domain binds to the signalling molecules and transmits the signal to the G-proteins bound to the cell membrane like alpha, beta and gamma subunits. Now this causes dissociation of the subunits and activation of Adenylyl Cyclase enzyme, which is also bound to the membrane to convert the ATP to cAMP. It is known as secondary messenger.
It means that all except cAMP are part of membrane.
Hence option A is the correct answer.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any query.
