The gradients responsible for the movement of fluids, solutes and ions include concentration gradient and ion gradient.

Concentration gradient refers to the gradual change in the concentration of solutes between two regions and it occurs due to unequal distribution of solutes. Active movement occurs when there is movement against the concentration gradient (from low to high) and it requires energy. Passive movement courts when the solute moves along the concentration gradient from high to low.
