Bones provide support and protection to human body. It also produces blood cells and act as a resevoir for minerals.
The human body is divided into right and left halves.  
Almost all bones are paired and constitutes the right and left half of skeleton.
There are 12 pairs of ribs. 12 ribs are present on the right side and 12 ribs are present on the left side.
So we can say that 12 ribs are present on the same side.
