Two-tailed test
A two-tailed test helps you to understand if two means are
different from one another. In other words, it checks if the two
means are equal or not.
Here the significance level of 0.05(or whatever you specific) is
divided and allocated to both directions for testing. This is
indicated in the figure below.
One tail test
In the one-tailed test, it helps you to understand if one mean is
greater than or less than the other. Hence it checks only in one
direction as specified in the hypothesis test.
