Question

discuss all sampling methods used in data collection

Answer #1

Sampling methods are mainly classified as two types

1) probability

2) non probability

The process of sampling in primary data collection involves the following stages:-

1) Defining a Target population

Target population represent specific segment within wider population that are best positioned to serve as a primary data source for the research.

2) choosing a sampling frame

Sampling frame can be explained as a list of people within the target population who can contribute to the research.

3) Determining a sample size

This is the number of individuals from the sampling frame who will participate in the primary data collection process.

**probability methods:-**

Probability sampling methods include simple, stratified systematic, multistage, and cluster sampling methods.

**Non probability methods:-**

Non-probability sampling methods include purposive, quota, convenience and snowball sampling methods.

Compare and discuss about methods of primary data collection

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of observational data
collection. Identify either a strength of observational data
methods (and how this contrasts with a weakness of survey methods)
or a weakness of observational data methods (and how this contrasts
with a strength of survey methods).

Sampling Methods: Classify the type of sampling
method used.

off the production line and tests all of the CD's in that box for
defects.

Can you use sampling methods used in qualitative
research methods for a quantitative research study? Why or why
not.

A) Distinguish between nonprobability and probability samples
and compare their advantages and disadvantages. Which are used for
qualitative and which for quantitative studies?
1) Identify and describe two types of non-probability sampling
methods and two types of probability sampling methods
2) Discuss how sample size requirements differ between
qualitative and quantitative studies.
B) Identify phenomena/variables that lend themselves to
self-reports, observation, and biophysiologic measurement and
discuss each of these types of data collection.

Discuss how researchers determine the unit of analysis when they
are researching agency data. Describe some sampling methods that
could be used in researching agency records.

Consider the following statistical studies. Which method of data
collection would likely be used to collect data for each study?
Explain your selection. What is the population of interest? Would
you take a census or use a sampling? Explain. If you would use a
sampling, decide what type of sampling technique you would use.
Explain your reasoning. 2. A study of the success of graduates of a
large university in finding a job within one year of graduation. 3.
