k-nearest neighbors and regression trees are methods that can be used to predict numeric outcomes. Both tend to outperform linear regression for very large data sets. Explain one specific advantage that these methods have over linear regression.

Answer #1

Advantages of using knn and decision trees over regression:

1. K-NN and Decision tress are non-parametric algorithms which means there are assumptions to be met to implement them. Parametric models like linear regression has lots of assumptions to be met by data before it can be implemented which is not the case with K-NN and Decision trees.

2. K-NN and Decision tree algorithms are very simple to understand and equally easy to implement as compared to linear regression.

3. K-NN and decision trees are memory-based approach. The immediately adapt as we collect new training data. They allow the algorithm to respond quickly to changes in the input during real-time use.

What is the difference between body composition reference methods and anthropometric field methods? Both methods capture the same data Anthropometric field methods can be used as the gold standard for true body composition while reference methods are compared to that gold standard Reference methods are biologically-based, objective measures while field measures are mostly based on self-reported data collected in the field Anthropometric measures are typically more expensive than reference methods All of the following are advantages of CT and MRI...

Although stocks and bonds may both be viewed as investment opportunities, there are major differences between these two. Stock represents capital, the financial investment or equity, in a corporation. In a publicly traded corporation, individuals and groups buy and own shares of stock in the company. Shares of stock are traded (bought and sold) on one of the stock exchanges. For example, you might buy shares of stock in Coca-Cola, a publicly traded company. Publicly traded companies are very different...
