Let's focus on global warming to be precise. Let's compare the todays climate with climate 5 years ago.

The hypothesis can be formulated as:

H0: The mean temparature for the particular year is same for now and 5 years back

Vs.

H1: The mean temparature particular to the year 5 years back is less than that of the current year.
