Homework Answers

Answer #1

The records of a computer retail store  show that out of the 25 customers who purchased a desktop computer last month, all but 6 that means 19 purchased a service plan that extends the warranty for an extra year. Out of the 50 customers who purchased a notebook computer last month, all but 18 purchased that means 32 purchased the same service plan.

Here percentage of desktop computer buyers who purchased service plan = 19/25 * 100 = 76%

percentage of notebook computer buyers who purchased service plan = 32/50 * 100 = 64%

so here last month, customers of the store who purchased desktop computers were more likely to purchase service plan because, % of desktop computer buyers purchased the service plan is 76%, whereas only 64% customers who bought note book computers have service plans.

We constantly seem to be pricing ourselves out of some markets and not charging enough in others. Our pricing policy is pretty simple: we mark up our full manufacturing cost by 50%. That means a computer that costs us $2,000 to manufacture will sell for $3,000. Until now I thought this was a workable approach, but now I’m not so sure. Steve Works, CEO, Cortland Manufacturing, Inc. (CMI) Steve’s Controller, Sally Nomer, had just told him that she believed the...

Chick-fil-A is dominating the U.S. fast-food market. Whereas McDonald’s, Subway, Burger King, and Taco Bell trudge along at the top of the heap, Chick-fil-A has quietly risen from a South- east regional favorite to become the largest chicken chain and the eighth-largest quick-service food purveyor in the country. The chain sells significantly more food per restaurant than any of its competitors—twice that of Taco Bell or Wendy’s and more than three times what the KFC Colonel fries up. And it...
