20. Eating Together In December 2001, 38% of adults with children under the age of 18 reported that their family ate dinner together seven nights a week. In a recent poll, 403 of 1122 adults with children under the age of 18 reported that their family ate dinner together seven nights a week. Has the proportion of families with children under the age of 18 who eat dinner together seven nights a week decreased? Use 0.05 significance level. I can get the answer but I'm not able to explain the final answer. This was my explanation and it was wrong. The p-value is greater than 0.05 at 0.075, which makes the null hypothesis not rejected at 5% level of significance. There is insufficient evidence to indicate the proportion of families with children under the age of 18 who eat dinner 7 nights a week decreased by 38%. The result is not statistically significant. The proportion of families with children under the age of 18 who eat dinner together seven nights a week has decreased to 36% according to this poll.
