What are confidence and Power? What is the relationship between these two outcomes? Please upload in Microsoft word.
This question is from my sociology professor. It's statistics and probability related.
Confidence Level=
A confidence level refers to the percentage of all possible samples that can be expected to include the true population parameter.
For example, suppose all possible samples were selected from the same population, and a confidence interval were computed for each sample. A 95% confidence level implies that 95% of the confidence intervals would include the true population parameter.
Power=
Power is the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when, in fact, it is false.i.e. It is the probability of making a correct decision (to reject the null hypothesis) when the null hypothesis is false.
Relation between these two outcomes=
For a confidence interval procedure, power can be defined as the probability that the procedure will produce an interval with a half-width of at least a specified amount.
