Intro to Criminal Justice question - It has been said by some Prosecutors that "defendants" have too many rights. Based on your current level of understanding of the court system, do you agree or disagree (and yes: I realize some of you have no clue as to how the system works: I want you to get creative and follow what you've learned from television or the Internet)? If you are in a different country, how are the laws applied to citizens who might be accused of a crime? Is it applied fairly in your opinion?
Need help with this! Thank you!
The criminal justice provides equal rights to both sides, prosecutors, and defendants both get same rights under justice system but the defendants get some social privileges and rights which help them to overlap the prosecution. The justice system works on evidence provided by the prosecution, and this evidence needs to verify. Loopholes in evidence give the advantage to the defendant so that prosecutors some time raise these kinds of questions.
The prosecution and defendants both are the important part of the criminal justice system but the social and moral support always belongs to defendants.
In my opinion, our criminal justice system gives equal space to both prosecution and defendants, so we cannot say that the defendants have too many rights than prosecution.
