Discuss a probable cause for the gender divide within a specific health problem. State what action you would take to bridge the gap. Using the article “He’s More Typically Female Because He’s Not Afraid to Cry,” as a reference.
It has been the mind-set of the world that men should be stronger, shouldn’t cry in times of pain and sorrow, accept challenges etc. Males who do not exhibit these resilient characteristics during pain and sorrow were not respected as men. Today as times have changed men have started acquiring more feminine characteristics and females have started acquiring more masculine characteristics. Thus men who are in depression have started showing their pain and cry just as their female counterparts do. Females on the other hand started supporting men more emotionally and men are strong because of the support they receive from women.
Pain is common to all, suffering is common to all and emotion is common to all. So, men and women experience same amount of pain, suffering and emotional outbursts during times of depression. It thus becomes very obvious that enough awareness should be brought among the public about it. Males shouldn’t be branded as weak if they express their pain, suffering and emotions. They should also be supported at home, workplace and society.
