Does care ethics provide a viable alternative to traditional ethical theories? Why, or why not?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

According to Carol Gilligan, the traditional theories have failed to take into account the different moral “voices” of men and women. Thus the theory of the care ethics provides a viable alternative to traditional ethical theories as it takes into account our relatedness and our lived experience. Lived experience and careful recognition of the oppressive behavior of the patriarchal societies are a beginning in respecting truly the dignity and value of each and every human being.
