Homework Answers

Answer #1

People seek out these alternative healthcare because (1) they are dissatisfied in some way with conventional treatment; (2) they see alternative treatments as offering more personal autonomy and control over health care decisions; and (3) the alternatives are seen as more compatible with the patients' values, worldview, or beliefs regarding the nature and meaning of health and illness. Additional predictor variables explored included demographics and health status.

One of the best advantages that alternative medicine offers is that it heals the body and is designed to actually treat the cause of the pain or disease that has occurred. By understanding and treating the disease, Chiropractors and other alternative medicine professionals are able to work at the root of the problem.

Most people agree that all modern medicine and new technology do cure illnesses and the drugsand surgery produce results. However, some people feel that modern medicine is not always effective in treating illnesses and bypasses conditions that are related to life style problems suchas depression, stress, anxiety and headaches. The state of mind and body, exercise, relaxation, diet and emotional expressions are not addressed in terms of a person’s health and well-being
