Explain a human rights case in Europe or Latin America. Was the case resolved or not? And how you would handle the situation.
In Latin America, current drug policy seems to violating human rights. The Latin America is experiencing tough anti-drug policy in which the punishment is very tough, the power of governmental institutions are limitless which help to violate human rights.
The problem with current drug policy are well established and common across the region. The militarization efforts to counter drug trafficking in countries such as Columbia and Mexico has fuelled violation and resulted in serious human rights violations by armed forces and law enforcement. Large number of individual are arrested for possessing drugs for personal consumption in many countries across the region. Many private treatment centres violate human rights by holding individual against their will and torturing those detained in centres.
According to the cases and study about drug trafficking in Latin America, we can see high number of human rights violation.
The case is still unsolved and experiencing huge protest while government is not paying special interest in such conditions.
In my opinion, the human rights consist similar importance so that government must involve in the human rights care and create balance between drug trafficking and human rights. Stop drug trafficking is important but human rights are also important so the government should create an institution which control and punish violation against human rights as they are doing in drug trafficking.
