China is routinely cited by various governments and NGOs for human rights violations that included torture, beatings, imprisonment, and even the executions of political dissidents. (Recently, the Uighur people in west China have been put into “re-education” camps.) Yet, firms headquartered in democratic societies in West Europe, North America, and Japan are employing FDI in China. Critique this phenomenon from an ethical perspective.

I think if people from rest of the world will invest in China then it will be ethically wrong if they support the same activities as described in the above case. Violations of human rights are unethical. It will be ethically sound if they support good causes like health care to marginalized, education & employment to youths, providing essential goods , ethically contributing to China's economy and global trade .

Firms from democratic societies can request to create a healthy environment to the Chinese government by their official government representatives to China's government. It might make their FDI positive one in such a country where human rights are violated frequently. Even , it is good to invest in a country( China) where unemployment is a big issue.
