What values of the social work profession support the provision of services to immigrant populations, including those that are undocumented?
Social service values revolve around service, social justice, dignity and worth of the individual, importance and centrality of human relationships, integrity and competence. I would go with social justice and dignity and worth of the individual to support the provision of services to the immigrants. Immigrants are people who move to most of the developed countries hoping to find a better life because of war and famine in their own native countries. No one likes to move from their natural habitats or native place until it becomes unbearable to live there for various reasons. Everyone deserves their dignity as a human being and justice should be made for those who work in a foreign country but not treated well.
Undocumented immigrants are those who were cheated by the middle agents with false promises and brought to a foreign land but abandoned mid-way. They struggle a lot to live a decent life and if they wish to go back, they can’t repay all the money that they spent to come to the country in which they felt they could live a prosperous life. These people deserve to live as normal human beings and treating them inhumanly just because they entered a country by mistake of the middle men, they shouldn’t be treated like outlaws.
