How should schools respond to an increasingly multicultural/diverse population?
In this case, when school would have no control as there would be lot of cultural mix in city itself due to may be industrialization, or people shifting due to work opportunities, better prospects. Such schools need to take extra care about the multicultural diversity of students taking admission.
1) If possible, to recruit parents as teacher if they have experience of teaching and come from different cultural background. This would help other teachers in taking information about the culture, kids in that particular state.
2) Reserving a quota for the state's own culture is very important. If this is not done then state's own kids fall behind, and other kids progress.
3) Conducting parent teachers meeting, and observing what are the expectations of parents, are they open to new school's culture? asking questions. Or giving questionnaires to all the parents which cover aspects such as expectations, behaviour of child etc.
4) Asking different culture students to come in front and describe about their own culture, teling something in their own language, this also allows the kids to mix up. And the state's own kids learn about such culture. Children make friendships very easily this makes the task of the school very easy.
5) To talk or communicate notices in universal language, so that everybody clearly understands the notice.
