Hormonal imbalances make women more likely to be diagnosed with depression than men. Women have their genes wired in a way which causes emotional imbalance and instability which is the major cause for depression. Research studies suggest that women who have a family history of depression are more susceptible to be diagnosed with depression in comparison to men. If a woman has one parent or both who have been diagnosed with depression, she is more likely to be found depressed than her sibling who is male.
