The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,5th edition is published by APA in 2013.It is diagnosis and taxonomic tool for disorders.
It is one of the most important tools available for diagnosis of mental disorders like schizophrenia, ADHD, binge disorder, psychopaths, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder etc.
There are many weaknesses presented in DSM5 because it is based on Western world biased.
In many disorders, DSM-5 fails to diagnose disorders in the context of the Eastern world like Asian and Indian subcontinent due to the difference in socio-cultural ethics and norms.
By eliminating perception of cultural biases DSM may improve.
