Gender Identity Disorder is a psychological disorder which children are diagnosed with when they feel that they are the wrong sex. It is observed by a child having a preference for the opposite sex clothes, toys, activities, etc. Psychological treatment is used to help reinstate the appropriate gender behaviors. Gender dysphoria or gender identity disorder involves a clash between assigned gender and gender identity of the individual. E to this disorder individual with this disorder feels very uneasy and frustrated with assigned gender.
They feel like they are trapped in the body of another gender.
According to DSM-5 (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders ) r identity disorder or dysphoria diagnosis criteria are:
Characteristics are shown (at least six months and two ).
1. The individual is not in harmony with primary expressed gender and secondary sex features.
2. Strong feeling to escape from primary and/or secondary sex features.
3. The strong feeling for primary and/or secondary sex feature of another gender.
4. Strong feeling to become like another gender.
5. Firm desire to be treated like another gender.
They should not misunderstand for transgenders.
Hence, they should treat according to their disorder.
