Answer #1

Legitimate power base involves long lasting influence based on an authorized position in a hierarchy. This power base originates from ones position in an organizational hierarchy. This is related to a person’s title and job responsibilities. Legitimate power rests in the belief among employees that their manager has the right to give orders based on his or her position. For example- at the crime scene people usually cooperate with the orders given by uniformed police officer because of preconceived belief that the police officer has the authority to give orders.    referent power- The individual power base derived from the degree to which one is liked & admired by others. reward power- power base from an individual's capacity to administer valued rewards to others.    coercive power/ punishment- power base from the capacity to administer punishment to others.
