It is known that the guns would not only increase violence, but it would also stimulate violence. This effect has also been known as the weapons effect.

It has been seen that when people observe weapons such as guns, they automatically have a tendency to become aggressive. It is observed that people who possess guns, automatically tend to feel more confident. They have a tendency to think that they are more powerful than others, as a result of which, the inherent aggression of a person comes out. It has been observed that even after these people have tried to control their anger, they turn out to either abuse another person or show obscene gestures. This is because of the tendency of human psychuwhere, humans tend to have more direct identification with dangerous stimuli, as a result, humans identify guns more easily as a potentially threatening stimuli. It has been observed that states that have had higher ownership of firearms in their house holds, have had higher incidence of aggression, assaults, unemployment as well as alcohol consumption. People possessing guns have poorer social skills and they have problems in their life. These people constantly feel victimised. As a result in frustration and aggression, they tend to use their guns.
