This idea had been given by Hume, who tried to devise a relationship between the impressions as well as the ideas. According to Hume, the primary contents of the mind are perceptions and perceptions are what we are aware of in our senses, according to hume, perceptions are further divided into ideas as well as impressions. He says that impressions are related to the senses and ideas are related to the thoughts or thinking. Ideas are referred to as only faint images of the impressions, ‘less forcibly and lively’ (p.6). Humes also says that ideas are impression copies and that it is possible that ideas could be mistaken.
