Describe blindsight and unilateral neglect and explain the contribution of these phenomena to researchers’ understanding of consciousness and attention.
Blindsight is when a subject is not able to visualize a thing but is able to give meaning to visual cues without actually seeing it . It is seen as a contrast in the awareness. although subject denies seeing the stimulus he is able to correctly target the stimuli. people suffering from blindsight are not blind because their yes do not function they suffer from cortical blindness . They receive sensory information but are not able to process it correctly .Therefore they have visual consciousness but are not able to recognize it .
Unilateral neglect is when a subject is bot able to see one side of the visual stimuli, like they may miss food in one side of plate. However in some researches it has been observed that based on the other side heuristics patients may develop a complete picture of other side in some cases. One side neglect depending on brain injury effects attention .
