Describe how at least three different lobes of the brain are involved when you cook a meal

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Cooking requires a lot of cognitive attention and activates several sensory networks. In terms of the Brian lobes, it can be seen that while cooking, the occipital lobe is involved as an average person uses his/her visual senses while preparing food, cutting the vegetables etc. secondly, the parietal lobe can be said to be involved as one uses eye hand coordination, touches the ingredients and performs a series of motor actions in manipulating the ladle to stir the food while cooking, or holding the knife to cut the ingredients, etc. and thirdly, the frontal lobe is actively involved in the process of cooking as one uses higher order thinking and memory to recall a recipe while cooking and one’s previous knowledge or experience with certain ingredients which can ensure success in the entire act and lead to a satisfying gastronomic situation.
