The cables as well as electrodes are used to deliver the electric current. It is important to take precautionary measures while using ESU such as:

• It is important to be careful and not coming in contact with the neutral electrodes.
• It is important to wear gloves while accessing patient and applying the electrodes.
• Alcohol should not be used or kept near by the ESU.
