Forgiveness requires us to move ahead from the mistake as we want to restore the earlier faith and stability in a relationship.So it is definitely a prosocial behaviour,being forgiven and forgiving both bring with them a stability which decreases the anxiety about the future, and also helps us start anew with increased self esteem and the relief of having support around.Forgiving someone does not require forgetting or excusing the action being forgiven.It is important that the action is accepted and discussed to ensure that the same is not repeated to hurt each other.
