When people say psychoanalysis, most of the time they think of the theory first introduced by Freud 100 years back. Psychoanalytic ideas changed and evolved depending on clinical experiment and research.  

There are films which motivate the audience to deal with more maturely and thoughtfully. While it won't be wrong to say that psychoanalysis makes a niche exist within media and communication also.

Freud's most important contribution and the biggest change were to change the thinking of the society about mental illness and the way people dealt with such illness. Before Freud invented psychoanalysis, mental illness was looked down upon by people and many people thought it to be some disease of the brain.
