President enjoys various powers under article II of the constitution.

Power of commander in chief has been vested in president for the reason to take expeditious decision in times of emergency. There has been various debate on whether this power is absolute or needs to be approved by Congress and senate.

But in prize case 1861 , court authorised the claim of President Lincoln that war power is vested in President to protect the nation.

In 1942, Presidentof USA , Roosevelt issued an executive order, by virtue of the authority vested to President as Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy, to give power for his military commanders to designate areas from which ''any person'' could be excluded or removed and to settle them anywhere else.

After this order more than 1 lakh residents of the Western States, mostly of Japanese descent and more than two third of whom were natural-born citizens of USA , were evacuated from their homes and forced to live into temporary camps and relocation centers.
