This chapter will examine several questions: Has commercialization of sport been good or ill? What sort of ethical problems does it raise? Has sport been corrupted by its role in the world of commerce and markets? Has it become just another commodity, something to be bought and sold, and has this commercialization not only robbed it of its defining character but also damaged the internal values that make sport a significant area of achievement and endeavor? In our reading we will find out how our authors answer these questions, but in this post I would like you to answer them and explain how you feel. Full credit will be awarded to a post of 200+ words and two additional posts to classmates.
One of the most important things in
this world that keeps most of the people in this world in its
control is sports. Everyone likes sports thus there are plenty of
sports that are being played throughout the year. Countries spend
more money interms of preparing and winning the competitions that
are held in different countries. Apart from the nations, there are
private owners who buy players, entertain the crowd, pay them money
and earn more. It's here sports started to turn into commercial.
Sports has got more advertisements, more products, more glamour and
more crowd.
In my opinion, sports has become a commodity because people have
started playing for money this attach themselves with the private
owners. They do not care what happens to the national glory. For
them it's really important that they get enough pay and earn enough
money through advertisements. Besides all these, there are also
lots of drug usage, betting and cheating in the sports world today
which has made the sports world look ugly and it's lost it's spirit
a long time ago. Countries at times are at war and people fight
right in the auditorium. They are not able to accept the defeat of
their favourite teams and sportsperson.
