Divorce is important to the field of human development primarily because of the potential negative impact it can have on children. Studies report that children who grow up in an intact, two-parent family with both biological parents tend to do better on a wide range of outcomes in life than children who grow up in a single-parent family. Therefore, investigating the phenomena in depth will allow creating inventions such as marital education, family counseling, and related services to improve communication among family members and problem-solving skills.
