Regards,
I need to answer the following questions about an experiment. The
experiment is called: Interference and Diffraction: Young's
Experiment. The experiment consists in finding the wavelength of
the light apparatus experimentally through the study of a double
groove, and another of simple groove one of 0.08mm and another of
0.16mm.
1. (True or False?). Interference is behavior associated with
particles.
2. (True or False?) Interference is observed in the experiment
where double slot is used.
3. Compare and contrast the concepts of Diffraction and
Interference.
4. What is the difference between the effect in a double grid and a
single grid? Does the size of the grid, in the case of the simple
one, affect?
5. How is the wavelength affected when it is experimentally
calculated in a double grid and in a single grid?
6. Write a detailed conclusion about the experiment, including
drawings to understand what is written.
7. What is a destructive wave and a constructive wave? How is this
experiment related?
Thank you!!!!
Solution
Interference is the interaction between two different waves.
1. False. Since it is related to waves in this case.
2.True.
3.interference is superposition of waves coming from coherent source of light.
Diffraction is the bending of light around the corners, which is similar to spreading of light.diffraction is the interference between many point sources of light.
4. For double grid, each grid acts as a single source of light.
Slit width is used in place of distance between sits. ( grid or slit are same meaning).
The equation which gives bright fringes for double grid gives dark fringes for single slit.
