Echoic memory is related to sensory memory which is specific to auditory information. The auditory cannot be scanned repeatedly, unlike visual stimuli. Overall, they last for slightly longer periods than iconic memory, but is capable of storing large amounts of information. An example of echoic memory is hearing someones name called out loudly, someone you dont know and forgetting it seconds later.
