What are Sex Offender Registration Laws? Do you agree with these laws? Are there any unintended negative consequences created by these laws? Do you think there should be a registry for other crimes? Why do you think one only exists for sex crimes?
The sex offender registration and notification act or SORNA is a part of federal law that requires states to maintain a system to monitor and track convicted sex offenders following their release into the community. Yes, I do agree with such kind of laws as tracking and monitoring the activities will put convicted people on constant check. Though the act has several advantages to offer, yet this law has certain negative consequences too. Tracking and monitoring convicted criminals though a system of registration put the immediate family members of the convict in precarious situation. Indirectly their activities are also under scanner which will put the family members into frustration or depression. Yes there should be provision for registry for other crimes.
