Morality

Was it dutiful for the German soldiers to fight for Hitler? For an American soldier to fight for what he sees as an unjust cause? Or does duty lie in refusing such orders?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Since the German military manual states that a military order is not binding if it is not “of any use for service,” it was not

dutiful for the German soldiers to fight for Hitler who was a despotic leader. In case of an American soldier to deny fighting for what he sees as an unjust cause is would be according to the laws of the United States, would be considered the unforgivable and illegal act of insubordination. Thus based on law legally the duty is different in both the countries.
