Yes , the  Union and Confederate forces want to fight in or near Gettysburg which is evident  when the confederate force commanded by Lee learned that the army of union is on the way , Lee planne to gather his army in the crossroas town of the Gettysburg which was about thirty five miles in southwest of the harrisburg , pennsylvania .A division of confederate approached the town in the supplies search on July 1 just to know that 2 union cavalry brigades had reached the day before .The both the armies of union and confiderate gathered in bulk and headed forward towards gattysburg .
