Speciality courts are courts which are built in order to give a therewputic backbone to the courts of the society to aid in instances wherein a certain conduct could lead to delinquent and/or criminal intent, such as drug court, to provide support and rehabilitation in order to reduce crime than the prosaic court system and judicial system.
The main theory of criminology which is used as a paradigm for speciality courts is the social structural theory and social process theory.
The former states that crime is given impetus to by the failing of the social structures within a given society. Hence there is a need for a better and understanding court system for adressing certain problems.
The latter, which is the social process theory, states that it is necessary to understand factors which lead to and add up to developing within an individual a criminal intent and criminal behavior.
