Prove and discuss the energy of the universe is constant : the entropy strives to reach a maximum

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The maximum entropy principle for a closed system with fixed internal energy (for an isolated system) the entropy is maximized at equilibrium.

The minimum energy principle For a closed system with fixed entropy. the total energy is minimized at equilibrim.

If rather thaa an isolate system we have closed system in which the entropy rather than energy remains constant than it follows from the first and second law of thermodynamics that the energy of that system will drop to a minimum value at equilibrim transferring its energy to the other system
